The Biggest Shopping Day of the Year

Grandma and Grandpa (Sandy and Dave) decided to stay an extra day due to the snow that started falling this morning. After a big day of shopping and working, we had fettuccine and meatballs with Deanna's homemade pasta.

Hannah arrives with heavy bags.

Grandma and the girls may have set a new world record for day-after-Thanksgiving shopping--over six hours! Hannah shows off one purchase (of many).

Hannah and Deannna work up an appetite with a little kitchen dance.

Grandpa gives the girls a run for their board game money.

Thanksgiving 2005

Lauren, Hannah, Irma, Sandy, and Dave were at our house for Thanksgiving.

Deanna and her mom make a Thanksgiving toast.

Hannah and Lauren pace themselves because dessert beckons.

Oh my God was it cold out on Thanksgiving Day (15 degrees and a howling wind). Good thing we decided to go for a walk.

Check out this huge blue bottle of Reisling!

Lauren does her part to support Wisconsin dairy farmers.

Hannah finally digs into a piece of French silk pie.

Carrol and Terry sent us this huge, beautiful poinsettia.

November Gourmet Group Get-together

Although we were missing two members, our gala group gathered for Sue's antipasto platter, Chris's Caesar salad, Deanna and Rich's pizzas, and Tally's delicious philo, egg, rice, orange, and pine nut pie. (Deanna is waiting for the recipe.) This month, everyone created a personalized pizza from printed topping menus, named their pizza, and chose an Italian alias for the evening.

Deanna calls Dale (aka, Fillepe) over for a consultation because the combined weight of his toppings may over-stress the crust capacity.

With enthusiasm, Jim recalls his involvement in the anti-war movement during the 1960s.

Another hand signal. This one seems to indicate a vintage rather than radical anti-war political activitism.

Are you two related, and what's up wiff yo' tongues?
